Fisher Price Little People Zoo

The Fisher Price Little People Zoo is a great little people playset. It gives toddlers the opportunity to not only to play and entertain themselves, but to learn more about exotic animals at the same time. There is a few versions of this playset as well, so make sure you are getting the one you really want before you order.

You can get the A to Z Learning Zoo playset, which is the most complex of the options and provides more animals and more learning opportunities, and more of a chance to use their imaginations. Kids discover lots more than fun when they explore this zoo they will learn about their letters, too! As little ones head out on the Alphabet Trail, they can press any letter to hear the beginning letter of that animals name or the sound it makes! They can even press on the music note to hear the A-B-C song with animal sounds or press on the question mark to answer questions about the animals they meet along the way. They'll also enjoy lots of different animal antics, like sending the monkey sliding down the tree, making the prairie dog pop up and more! Includes 26 animal figures, zookeeper, car, food cart, two fence pieces, waterfall, cave, tree with swing and interactive play mat!

There is also the Animal Sounds Zoo. Which is much smaller but is also considerably less expensive than the A to Z Learning Zoo. The Little People Animal Sounds Zoo features six different animals--polar bear, seal, monkey, lion, bird, and elephant--and environments for children to interact with. Each habitat floor has a small paw print that elicits the animal's sound when pressed with a finger or when the appropriate animal is placed on it. Each animal is made of soft, squeezable plastic and is about 3 inches tall, perfect for small hands. Children will enjoy the various sounds, animals, and habitats, especially the monkey. Hit the purple handle and the monkey shoots up a vine into the trees and shouts, "Ah-ah-eee-eee-oo-oo!" as he tries to grab a banana. Also included are two fence pieces and a small plastic car for the zookeeper

Here's what parents are saying about the A to Z Learning Zoo:

Little People A to Z Learning Zoo Playset

"We decided to purchase the Little People A-Z Learning Zoo for our daughter's 1st birthday, after we saw how much fun a friend's 16 month old daughter had with it."

"We bought this for our son about three years ago when he was 1 and he still plays with it today. Now our one-year-old daughter plays with it too. One of the best toys we ever bought for our kids. Its a great way to teach them letters and all about animals. The sounds of each animal are really great too. Even with a lot of use, its been very durable and still looks brand new. I highly recommend this toy!"

Here's what parents are saying about the Animal Sounds Zoo:

"My daughter received this for Christmas when she was 1 & 1/2. It was one of those "also ran" type gifts that my wife and I got for her... It was basically an after-thought, not one of the gifts that you carefully pick thinking this will be the "one" gift that is cherished. It was one of the last presents that she opened on Christmas day - but once it was out of the box, she could not be pulled away. Six months later (and a birthday along the way) it is still her favorite toy.

She fell in love with the elephant and brought it with her everywhere. Enventually she lost it and asked us where he went every day for 3 months. I finally called Fisher Price to order a replacement - which they were very good about sending (at a small price) a replacement.

Little People Animal Sounds Zoo

The toy is very simple and leaves a lot to the imagination. All the pieces are very durable (just keep an eye on them if they are so coveted that they travel frequently!).

For her birthday my daughter received the "Little People Home Sweet Home". Also a huge hit. Sadly, the "dad" from the Home Sweet Home set has been evicted by my daughter - in favor of the zoo keeper from "Animal Sounds Zoo" who seems quite pleased with his new-found wife and family ;)

Great toy!"

"I have a 10 month old and an almost 4 year old who sit and play TOGETHER with these toys, which is quite an age span to entertain, especially since they will both play for long periods of time with these toys. I like that there are enough electronic sounds to be entertaining (and are easy enough for my 10 month old to work), but do not limit the activity or imagination levels. I also like that the pieces are large enough that I don't have to worry about choking hazards for my younger child, and the animals are soft enough that she likes to chew on them and they are EXTREMELY durable (considering they have been jammed in the toy box a number of times and still look brand new). I also like how they encourage lots of imaginative play...which to me is as educational as anything. A great set to collect and to give as gifts. I cannot praise these toys enough!!!!"

"I never would've thought that this toy would be captivating for babies, but my 7 month old son loves it! Santa brought this for my 2.5 yr old daughter, and it is equally loved by both. My baby can actually hit the purple lever that makes the monkey jump up and activates the monkey sounds! He loves to mouthe the animals and fence pieces (much to sister's dismay!) All of the pieces are large enough for me to not worry about choking hazards. It's great to get so much play value out of a toy, and to see both kids happily playing together. If your infant can sit alone, he/she will probably enjoy this. Toddlers who love little people will definitely find this entertaining. Thumbs up!"

Melissa and Doug Slice and Bake Cookie Set

Melissa and Doug are famous for creating toys that allow children to use their imagination, and develop their creativity. The Melissa and Doug Slice and Bake Cookie Set is no exception. If you have the Melissa and Doug kitchen the cookie set is a must have.

This colorful wooden set includes twelve wooden, sliceable cookies and eighteen toppings, wooden knife, spatula, cookie sheet and a kitchen mitt for safe, "low-calorie" play. The cookies store in a durable dough tube.

Here's what other parents have to say about the Melissa and Doug Slice and Bake Cookie Set:

Melissa and Doug Slice and Bake Cookie Set

"We have a play kitchen but, did not have any play food. I wanted something durable and not the cheaper plastic that eventually would end up in the trash. I had originally purchased this for my daughter's birthday but, when it came it looked too fun to wait!! Even my sons (aged 8 & 4 1/2) have gotten in on the cookie making action. Great, durable toy that helps them use their imagination."

Helmet Heroes

I saw these on TV the other day and they have made the must have list for Christmas in our house. The reviews support my decision to grab up one of the Helmet Heroes for my daughter.

Helmet Heroes come with a helmet, with an internal headset, and a remote controller in the shape of a wheel, or handlebars for the motorcycle one. This incredible helmet delivers interactive role play in a whole new and innovative way. Slip on the helmet, and your preschooler is instantly in charge of the road and on the run. Use the handlebar unit to control lights and sounds. The helmet also includes a microphone so your child can hear himself as he races around. Provides hours of imaginative, role-play fun.

Here's what other parents have said about Helmet Heroes:

Playskool Adventure Squad
Racer

"I purchased this for my grandaughter and was a bit hesitant because I assumed it would be more enjoyable for little boys. But I was wrong, she loves it. It really gave her a chance to enjoy playing the role and use her imagination of being a police officer. She especially loved the microphone feature in which she could hear her voice over the speaker on the helmet. Great product for boys and girls!"

"My 3 year old loves anything that has to do with cars, trucks, police etc... We bought the police version of this and although the helmet seems a bit big on him he loves the interactive play. The best part is the microphone that when he pushes the talk button on the handheld device lets his voice be heard through the helmet. It seems very sturdy and he likes pushing the buttons to make the siren noises and the intereactive buttons that let the officers communicate with him."

"My three year old loves this helmet!! He has the police helmet and he loves it! My 8 month old loves it too because the lights go off on the helmet and she just laughs. He plays with it all day. Even my seven year old plays with him. It is a great gift!"

Fisher Price Little People Airplane

The Fisher Price Little People Airplane is one of my favorite Little People playsets. It's so cute, and kids get to use their imaginations to pretend to fly and travel to new and exotic places. It is also one of the less expensive playsets in the Little People Collection.

"Ready for take-off…here we go!" Toddler pilots in training can let their imagination take flight with this stocky, swooshy, wiggly-wobbly airplane. Measuring 12 inches nose to tail, and 8 inches from wingtip to wingtip, this sturdy plastic plane features a pilot, two passengers, a piece of luggage, a door that opens, six windows, including the pilot’s windshield, a handle over the cut-out top, working wheels (which make the pilot and passengers go up and down as if encountering turbulence), and the obligatory face on the front of the craft. Push down on the pilot in her seat (yes, her seat…we are in the 21st century, you know!) for flashing lights, a tune, flight attendant commentary, and swooshing airplane sounds. Judging from the outfits of the passengers and the palm tree design on the wings, this aircraft seems to be headed for a tropical port--airport, that is. What’s not to love?

Here's what other parents have said about the Fisher Price Little People Lil Movers Airplane:

Fisher Price
Little People Lil' Movers Airplane

"My son got this plane when he was 19 months old. For several months now, he has been very much into cars, trains and airplanes. I got an email from Fisher Price showing this and other new toys. I let my son watch the demo for the airplane and he was hooked.

The airplane comes with a pilot, two passengers and a piece of luggage. Two of the three passenger seats as well as the pilot's seat move up and down as the plane is pushed along the ground. The plane has a side door which opens and the top is cut out for easy access to the passenger seating. When the pilot is pressed down, the plane makes noises, says a welcome to your flight message or plays a cute song. Red lights at the base of the wings flash in conjuction with the sounds.

This airplane is rather big compared to many Little People toys. It is about 12 inches long, 8 inches high and 8 inches wide. It's a little bit on the heavy side too, but a handle across the top makes it easy for my son to lift it for pretend flights through the air."

"She's one year old and she loves playing with the "Little People" and the airplane. She carries the people around, kisses them and takes them on imaginary plane rides through the sky. She also pushes the plane around on the ground and dances to the music the plane makes when she pushes down on the pilot seated in the front of the plane. Because this was such a hit, I bought two other "Little People" toys to add to her collection and she loves them all!"

Fisher Price Little People Farm

I first saw the Fisher Price Little People Farm while we were on vacation this past summer. My sister in law brought it with her for her 1 year old. My daughter had just turned 2 at the time. The little one loved the Fisher Price Little People Farm, but my it didn't really keep my daughter's interest. (that's not really saying much, not many things hold her interest) It was also nothing like the one I grew up with.

The one thing I did like was the silo opens and holds all the animals, so they are self contained. It also has cute sounds for each animal, which helps kids learn more about animals. It was also very sturdy and I'm sure it would hold up to hours and hours of rough play from toddlers.

Here's what some other parents thought about the Fisher Price Little People Farm:

Fisher-Price Little People Animal Sounds Farm

"The item purchased is exactly what I would expect from Fisher Price...an excellent teaching opportunity in a very fun way. My granddaughter, who is one-year old, loves animals and this farm has all the animals that you would typically know to be farm animals, plus the sounds that they make are so realistic. The animals are made solid enough for her little hands to hold easily, but too big to be swallowed when she feels she needs to "taste" them, as all little ones love to put things in their mouths. I know this farm will provide hours of learning fun for her; even her big sister who is almost four-years old loves it, too! A great toy!"

"I purchased this for my daughter to keep her entertained when I was on bed rest. It worked like a charm. The animals are still her favorite toy to take along when we go anywhere. I think the touch and feel animals make it even better. I've read other reviews about how the fur makes them hard to clean but I don't agree. Even after repeated washing the fur is still in great shape. I think that the touch and feel animals make this toy even more fun because they provide nice tactile stimulation. I would definately recommend this toy. It was a real life saver for me."

Be aware there are two different models of the Little People Farm, one is the touch and feel, which has fuzzy fur on the animals. Reviewers have not particularly liked the touch and feel variety as young toddlers put them in their mouth and the fur has come off. My sister in law had the original variety with no fur. I personally would not get the touch and feel version.

Vtech KidiZoom Digital Camera

The KidiZoom Digital Camera is one of the hot toys on our Christmas list this year. My daughter is 2 1/2 and loves my digital camera. She points it at people, and clicks the button. She actually takes better pictures than some adults I know. ;)

I think it would be safer for my camera if she had one of her own. I have looked a number of different digital cameras for kids and really like this one. The Kidizoom I'm looking at comes in pink and little girls will have a blast taking candid pics with their Kidizoom Camera. Kidizoom includes a connector cable to plug in and watch a picture slideshow or view the 5-minute movies they've created on any TV or PC. Fun photo-editing features allow kids to distort pictures or add silly frames. The camera also comes with three preschool games to keep the fun going. Plus, changeable faceplates let girls customize its look. It also comes in a couple different colors including blue and orange. kidizoom digital camera

Here's what other parents are saying about the KidiZoom Digital Camara

"This is the best kids camera on the market. You get so much for the price. You can take photos and put crazy special effects on them. My kids love doing that. You can also take video and photos with voice. My 4 year old daughter got the fisher price camera and it was awful! The display was tiny and you couldn't see the photos you took. It didn't have any special effects, video capability, or games. We returned the fisher price model and got this camera and love love love it! I had to buy another one for my 7 year old son because he was fighting over the camera. I got it in a different color so they could tell them apart. I even find myself playing with it. Yes the quality is not super but you can put a memory card in and take 2 megapixel photos which is great for a kids camera."

"Was considering the Fisher Price version but did some comparing...the VTech one has more options. Our daughter got this with her birthday money...great purchase now she can leave Mommy's camera alone! She loves it...can work it better than I can work my own!!!
She is already looking forward to taking it with her when we got on vacation.
Great Fun! Great Gift! "

Fisher Price Little People Garage

The Fisher Price Little People Racin Ramps Garage is one of the biggest sellers in the Little People collection. It is perfect for kids 12 months and up, and parents find even younger children find ways to enjoy this little people playset.

There are two versions of this playset as well. There is the Little People Racin Ramps Garage and the Little People Ramps Around Garage. The Racin Ramps is the smaller (and less expensive of the two sets).

Here are what some other parents had to say about the Little People Racin Ramps Garage:

Fisher Price Little People Racin' Ramps Garage

"I bought this for my two year olds birthday. She loves it along with her four year old sister. They play cars for long periods of time. They really enjoy the elevator. They have had no difficulty with it like other reviews stated. The only downfall is the tow truck gets a little annoying and the little blue towed car makes a high pitch noise when you drive it even on carpet. I would have like to have seen a better made towed car. The little blue towed car is not as high of quality as the other Little People cars we have purchased in the past, but the tow truck is great just like the other sets we have purchased. I received the toy a week earlier than planned with free shipping as well. I would definitely recommend this toy for boys or girls just buy additional cars to go with the set since it only comes with two people, one car, and one tow truck."

"We just bought this for our son's 2nd birthday and he loves it! I had no problem assembling the toy and have not had the problems that some of the other reviews had mentioned. He has only had it a few days but goes straight to it in the morning and plays with it a good portion of the day. The only problem that I noticed with it is that the elevator is a little difficult to slide up and down but my son seems manage OK with it."

Here's what people are saying about the Little People Ramps Around Garage:

Little People Ramps Around Garage

"I have 3 children ages 1, 3, and 5 who love this toy. Not only does it get used with the Little People but it also is used with other toys. My 1 year old loves the sounds and is able to put the people into the cars. It is so sturdy that it withstands his climbing all over it and it does not tip over on those occasions when he decides to stand up and hold onto it. My 3 year old daughter loves to play with the Little People that came with it and she loves the video that came with ours. My 5 year old likes to use it for staging battles with his green Army men and their planes and it occasionally becomes a hideout for the Superfriends action figures or Matchbox cars.

It has just enough electronic sounds to be fun but not to take away from the kids' imaginations. With such a wide appeal and so many ways to use it, this toy is a great value! Way to go Fisher-Price."

"I have owned three Little People garages over the years, and this is by far the best! This set has so much more to do and think about when driving and repairing a car. It even has a vacuum station, a diagnosic center (similar to the really old style- only much sturdier), and a cute news stand. The base has several places for sounds to come out- even more than the previous garage model.

The only drawback is the "snapping" of the pieces together before you can give it to the child to play with. I had a difficult time getting the two ramps to snap in place. But the nice part, when it is all put together, it is VERY sturdy. FP thought ahead this time and put in a track support along with a post that reinforces the whole toy much better. My two year old even fell on it once (accident) and it didn't hurt the toy at all.

Overall I give it 5 stars- a perfect Christmas present for your toddler/preschooler!"

Melissa and Doug Deluxe Standing Easel

Melissa and Doug are well known for making quality wooden toddler toys. The standing easel is no different. I looked long and hard to find an easel for my toddler. She is very into drawing, and I did not see this one before I settled on our Little Tykes easel.

I think when she gets a little older, and we've gotten plenty of use out of the one we have I will upgrade to the Melissa and Doug Deluxe Standing Easel.

Here are some parent reviews for the Melissa and Doug Standing Easel:

"This easel is a must have for any parent who is considering purchasing one for their child. We got it for our two kids--5 and 2--and they immedidately started painting and writing on it. The adjustable height is a must if you're going to have more than one child using it. Our older child can advance the paper himself when he wants to paint, but he does need help tearing if off when finished. We also purchased the starter kit, which made it easy for the initial start-up. If your child is somewhat messy with paint or chalk, I would recommend a drop cloth of some kind as it can get somewhat messy underneath the easel. Photobucket

I got the easel assembled in a short amount of time. The instructions and pictures were easy to follow. This easel is a great addition to any little artist's collection."

"This was a gift for my three year olds' birthday. It took me a bit to put it together (which is from my own stupidity), but after it was all set up it looks great. Pretty sturdy. My girl just loves this thing.

I also got the accessory pack which included paint cups, paint, brushes, dry erase marker and eraser, chalk and chalk eraser.

The only issue I had is with the chalkboard. The black chalk scratched the board and didn't fully come off. Not a huge issue. I bought some black chalkboard paint and painted over it. It looks great, and even with the 10 bucks I spent on the chalkboard paint, it's still cheaper than most other easels out there!"

The only negative people are talking about with this easel is similar to the parent above. The chalk board is not coming ready to write. There are plenty of fixes and it remains a great bargain.

Fisher Price Little People Noah's Ark

The Fisher Price Little People Noah's Ark is another great little people playset. This one comes in a couple different versions. Each version also carries a different price tag. So make sure you look around and make sure you find the version you want.

The Fisher Price Little People Ark versions range in price from 21 dollars up to 64 dollars. You can also get add on animal packs for a wider variety in animals for the ark.

Here are some reviews by other parents:

"This Noah's Ark is too cute! My daughter got this last year for Christmas when she was 6 months old. We opened it up for her when she was about 8 months old, and she has played with it ever since. She loves the animals, and can name them now. I love that the ark stores all of the animals - you don't have to worry about losing any of them.

I'm glad we have this version of the toy. I've seen the new "touch and feel" version in the stores - and I can see a problem with being able to clean them. I guess you might be able to put them in the dishwasher, but I'm sure the textures would lose the original feel. I prefer the animals without the texture - nice and easy clean-up. I'm sure children will love the "touch and feel" variety, but I'm not sure parents will prefer them.

I really think this version is a better way to go. And you definitely can't go wrong with Little People toys!"

"My son received Noah's ark for his first birthday and has had it for almost a year now and still loves it. He can name all the animals and can differentiate between the peacock and peahen. In addition to animal recognition, it is great to teach matching. His favorite part of the set is the food basket which he pretends to eat from!"

"My son received this at his first birthday. It was an immediate favorite. Now he is 4, and still loves playing it. And it has now become my 1 1/2 old daughters favorite toy as well. The perfect gift for any baby shower or toddlers birthday party. A must have!"

This little people ark seems to be a favorite amongst toddlers and parents as well. Stop by Fisher Price Toddler Toys Review for more reviews of Fisher Price toys.

Fisher Price Little People Village Review

The Fisher Price Little People Village is yet another in a long line of Little People playsets. This one is a little more complex than some of the others, which provides more opportunity for learning as well as entertainment.

Here's some Fisher Price Little People Village Reviews

"This is a newer version of the one my son got for Xmas 3 years ago when he was 3, but it is very similar (the new version is chunkier). My son, who was never much for playing by himself for very long, played with this for a long time, every time. We ended up leaving it in the living room for maybe a year because it was his #1 toy. We had a play group over of several kids, and one girl loved it so much her mother went out and bought it for her that week."

Fisher-Price Little People Discovery Village

"My son loves to play with this toy. He loves to connect his little peoples' garage to the village to make playing more fun, which keeps him busy for quite a while. This toy is also great for either a boy or a girl."

"We bought this toy for my daughter's 2nd birthday and she loves it! We have most of the Fisher Price Little People collection and she really enjoys them. But I have to say that the Discovery Village keeps her attention the longest and seems to be her favorite. I think it may be the moving rotary the she really likes. She has even incorporated her beloved Jojo's Circus characters with this toy. She puts them on the rotary and watches them go around. Buy it, its lots of fun!"

As you can see the reviewers tend to love the Fisher Price Little People Village.
